Amazing humpback whale action on all dolphin and whale watching trips. Yesterday afternoon saw not one, not two but four humpback whales all in the same area off of Newport Beach and Laguna Beach. A mother and adolescent humpback were swimming in tandem, at times with unreal synchronized, side by side, breaths and arches. Add over a thousand shearwaters (birds) and an easy five hundred common dolphins all feeding on schools of anchovies. Epic times on East Meets West Excursions and wonderful clients aboard!
Daily humpback whale sightings on East Meets West Excursions’ Dolphin and Whale Watching tours. Even had a kelping humpback perform a few lobtails inbetween Newport and Balboa pier yesterday afternoon. Pods of common dolphins with many nursery pods – baby common dolphins learning to swim with the pack.
Offshore blues! Scouted the waters offshore and surrounding Catalina Island this weekend. Beautiful weather, bountiful waters, and big blue whales! Spectacular weekend! Humpback whales return along the Newport Beach coast! Daily sightings, exciting actions, gorgeous weather!
Giant blue whales continue to amaze my clients – couple areas holding off of Newport and Laguna, promising for the upcoming weekend. Our most recent afternoon charter enjoyed not 1 but 2 beautiful blue whales and six hundred common dolphins!
Blue whales proved elusive yesterday despite the whole fleet searching for their whereabouts. Found a few hundred amazing common dolphins offshore between 7.5 and 9 miles – easily within range thanks to the speed and efficiency of our new boat, Bimini. These commons were bow riding for almost an hour, as if you could just reach out and pet them. And then the minke whales showed following outside the dolphins. Saw two and stayed with them until we went inside to look over the blue whale grounds from the day before. Beautiful weather this past week!
Big Blue Breaths
Giant blue whales rebound two days in a row for the holiday weekend. Today was a double sighting, including a mother and calf. Impossible to put words witnessing these massive beauties in the water doing what they do best. You just have to come out and see for yourself.
